On May 23rd and 24th, arcomed organized two introductory courses to Target-Controlled Infusion (TCI) at the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospitals in Murcia and Santa Lucía de Cartagena, both taught by Professor D. Pietro Paolo Martorano, Head of the Neuro-Anesthesia Service and post-surgical ICU at the Ospedale Reuniti in Ancona (Italy), member of SIAARTI (Italian Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia and Intensive Care) where he leads the Study Group on “New TIVA/TCI Devices and Multimodal Anesthesia”, in addition to being the author of numerous publications on anesthesia and a member of the editorial board of the British Journal of Anesthesia.
Professor Martorano taught the medical teams of both hospitals an introductory course, in which he reviewed the history of the TIVA/ TCI technique and the different equipment for its use, from the first Diprifusor pumps to the latest technology of the Chroma Syramed pumps from arcomed. On the courses he analyzedthe advatages of TCI technique vs. TIVA, the main pharmacokinetic models in current TCIs (Marsh, Minto, Schnider, Dick), the main trends in anesthesia monitoring devices) and he talked about multimodal anesthesia as a new approach to general anesthesia, with current examples, and “SmartPilot View” predictive monitoring.
The session ended with a round table discussion in which the questions and doubts of the attendees were answered.
Both sessions were valued highly by the attendees and were even talked about on the social networks of the hospitals.
This is an example of the training activities that arcomed carries out in order to publicize the latest innovations in infusion technologies and protocols, at the hands of the best specialists in this field. At arcomed we truly work closely with the staff of each hospital, becoming their best allies.
